Last night I went to the Pushing Pussy Records night at new Camden venue, The Blues Kitchen. The Palpitations and The Lovebirds were both playing sets, as TBK handed out samples of the food off their soon-to-be launched Southern soul menu- think pork belly, fried beans, battered shrimp- ooh, it was good!I'll definitely be going back for a full breakfast one morning- waffles, pancakes, bacon and so forth; a healthy start to the day I think. Here's a pic of Danielle, who I'll be styling for a photoshoot later this month.
Pushing Pussy Records is run by a lovely group of ladies, including acclaimed East London artists Tinsel Edwards and Twinkle Troughton.Tinsel was responsible for the gorgeous artwork on the bands' EP; above and below.Order yours here
Some other album artwork I've been really impressed with lately is that of Susan Burghart
for the much anticipated album from Katy Carr, out next month- you can read the 5/5 review it gets here. I'll do another post about the music itself nearer the time, but for now I wanted to show you the gorgeous aesthetic of 'Coquette'- heres the album cover, bits of the inside sleeve, a single cover and Katy's flyer. The single Kommander's Car is actually about an Auschwitz survivor's escape from the concentration camp in a stolen car- amazing.Again, more on the content soon, but here's a sneaky peak:
