Whilst the two trends I've mentioned so far for A/W 2012 are both quite conservative (Tradition and Princess), both have benefited from a bit of sexing up with the addition of some black lace, tulle and veiling. Even outside of London, Ulyana Sergeenko's new lookbook featured several seemingly innocent floral print numbers, completely transformed by the addition of a layer of sheer, black netting; instant sex appeal.

Likewise Corrie Nielson's classic tartans and structured tailoring took on an air of sensuality and mystery when swathed in black veils and sheer blouses.

Bora Aksu
Bora Aksu and Corrie Nielson also opted for a slightly less subtle take on the trend, with 'face lace' fast emerging as the statement accessory of the season. Personally, I can rarely be bothered even to stick on fake eyelashes, let alone something that needs securing all over my face, so I don't think this is a look I'll be adopting. I do think it's really striking for the catwalk however, and we'll probably see it in a good few editorials, adverts and promo shots throughout the year.
